Blythe Adamson, PhD, MPH

Dr. Blythe Adamson is a health economist and pharmacoepidemiologist serving as an Affiliate Professor at the University of Washington in the Comparative Health Outcomes, Policy and Economics (CHOICE) Institute, a Principal Scientist at Flatiron Health in New York City, and a COVID-19 expert at Testing for America. She also advises and generate evidence for governments, industry, academic institutions, and non-profit organizations.

 To inform decisions she compares the effectiveness of treatments and interventions, mathematically model disease progression and transmission, analyze electronic health records and wearable data, design healthcare resource allocation strategies, and develop novel research methods using natural language processing and machine learning. Her objective is to learn from the experience of real-world patients and generate evidence to understand the value of new medicines using electronic health record-derived data.

Dr. Adamson is a researcher with experience at the HIV Vaccine Trials Network, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, Institute for Disease Modeling, Intellectual Ventures and Boston Scientific. She is a leader in the International Society for Health Economics and Outcomes Research (ISPOR).

She was recognized as one of Business Insider‘s Top 30 Leaders Transforming Healthcare. She received her PhD in pharmaceutical science and MPH in epidemiology from the University of Washington. Dr. Adamson enjoys writing about the economics of infectious diseases at www.blytheadamson.com.
