Jessica Mega, M.D., M.P.H., is the Chief Medical and Scientific Officer of Verily, a subsidiary of Alphabet building tools to make health data more useful. As CMO, Dr. Mega focuses on translating scientific insights and technological innovations into partnerships and programs that improve patient outcomes. She oversees all of Verily’s clinical research efforts, including the Baseline Study for a more comprehensive, precise map of human health.
Dr. Mega is also an Adjunct Professor of Cardiovascular Medicine at Stanford University and a member of the Board of Directors of Danaher Corporation. She currently sits on the Advisory Group for the California Governor on Precision Medicine.
Prior to co-founding Verily, she held the roles of TIMI Study Group Senior Investigator; Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) Investigator; Professor of Harvard University’s Center for Systems Biology, Department of Organismic and Evolutionary Biology, and Department of Immunology and Infectious Disease; and Broad Institute Member and leader in its Infectious Disease and Microbiome Program. She led international, randomized trials evaluating novel cardiovascular therapies and directed the TIMI Study Group’s Genetics Program.
Dr. Mega received her B.A. in human biology from Stanford University, her M.D. from the Yale University School of Medicine, and her M.P.H. from the Harvard School of Public Health, before completing her internal medicine residency at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and her cardiovascular fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital. She is board certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiology and a fellow of the American Heart Association and the American College of Cardiology. She has been honored with the Laennec Society, Samuel A. Levine, and Douglas P. Zipes Awards.
